I can understand having an HOA fee in a development (or excuse me – subdivision) where you have parks and playgrounds, a club-house, beautiful man made ponds, etc. And I can even understand an HOA fee (a small one maybe) in one that doesn’t have any of those things (like ours) BUT keeps up with the man made ponds and the cutting of the grass in the “common areas” and keeps the palm trees at our entrance looking great! I don’t get a high HOA fee (which we have) in a subdivision that has no club house, no parks, no pool and on top of that does NOT keep up with how the ponds look (they are disgusting right now and one has had a bike stuck in the middle of it for 2 years now. Those pond pumps wouldn’t even come close to getting the filth out of them!) Add on to that that almost every house here 5th house here is empty due to the economy so they’re lawns are disgusting (and no one keeps up on that) and I seriously wonder what our HOA fees are going towards!
