A simple grocery trip turns into…

me decluttering and chucking stuff from 2 different pantry areas.

I took the kids to school this morning and ran to the grocery store for like 20 things. I got home and started putting those 20 things away and was so overwhelmed by how our 1 pantry was so disorganized that I spent over an hour taking everything out (and chucking some), cleaning it and then putting it all back – but reorganizing it all in the process. This started all because while I was putting the stuff I had bought away, I realized there was no room for any of it. And that drove me nuts. I then went from that pantry to an area over the dryer where we store more food and did the same thing there.

It felt so good to clean and purge and reorganize. I had been planning on doing that in every room (starting in the master bedroom) once the kids went back to school but I just haven’t been able to get started. Partially because I know alot of the stuff in there that I am not throwing out really doesn’t have a home – a place to be stored right now. We desperately need shelves in there, but it’s just not in the budget right now.

I feel so dirty though – the floor of the pantry was SO gross! I found like 2 of those slimy silver fish bugs – BLECH! Now that I started the kitchen though I feel like I have to keep going – the cabinets all need it!

Project 365 Day 9 – Sunday Project

MESSY!!!!!! A Sunday of no plans turns into a day of decluttering and reorganizing and chucking! (and the garage is still not done).

Day 9 - Sunday Project on 365 Project

Decluttering time!

I started this morning! And by the time summer is over I’m hoping to be done with most of the house. The problem is I’ll start doing a room and then 2-3 hours into it start getting batty and annoyed that we even have this much crap to begin with!

For instanceI started with Tristan’s room this morning (with him helping me of course) and we finished one corner: his shelves and his desk area. That’s it. It probably took all of an hour and a half but I just started getting so annoyed! So we stopped and we’ll start up again tomorrow morning (though I know we won’t finish it – his closet alone is going to drive me bonkers!) He’s growing up though so there’s alot of stuff I know he’s going to be getting rid of. Especially some of the stuff hanging on his walls. He’s outgrown most of it (reminds me of Toy Story 3). :(

Right before lunch I conquered the hall closet and threw out alot of stuff and made a pile for charity. (My mom volunteers at this place called The Clothes Closet up in Jacksonville – so most of our donations go there – it’s a non-profit organization that gives out clothing, toys, etc to people who need it. These people have to come in with referrals from their churches, etc. because they’ve either lost their jobs, had fires – whatever).

I’m debating starting the closet in the foyer. It’s not that big of a closet – but it’s got ALOT of stuff in it. Plus it’s just DIRTY!

Spring cleaning!

My mom was here this past weekend and because my old dollhouse (which my dad made – plans and all) is getting “refurbished” by my dad and will be going in her room next week, we decided her room needed to be decluttered and rearranged. So we did that all day Saturday and it took about 4 hours! But we got rid of so much stuff! Some of it had to be thrown out but alot of it is going to a place up by my mom where she volunteers that gives out stuff for free for people in need (clothes, toys, food, etc). It felt so good to do that to her room! I seriously need to do that to every room in this house!!!

I did “spring clean” my online world yesterday. Caelie was home sick so I took that opportunity of being home all day and decluttered my online life! I started with Twitter and got rid of people who either weren’t following me or were constantly spewing out spam and crap in general! Then I went to Facebook and again, got rid of people who I was “friends” with – people who since becoming “friends” with on FB that I never talked with, met up with or weren’t even friends in high-school with so it’s kind of like “why am I bothering now?” I went from about 186 to 140 something. I bet I could go back again and get rid of even more today. After Facebook I redid my Google Reader yet again. And then it was time for the hard stuff – my email in-boxes! My Gmail account had 700+ in it! All read of course but stuff I had kept “just in case”. I am happy to say I am now down to 115! And hoping to keep it that way! Same with my yahoo account – I had close to 200 and am now down to like 5.

Hoping to “spring clean” and declutter the kitchen next week and then work on decluttering and organizing one of our 3 computers! now THAT’S going to be an ordeal!
