It seems to be the time for fundraisers lately for competitive soccer teams. Friends of ours from the U10 soccer team are having a garage sale fundraiser (AWESOME idea) this coming Saturday and she sent out an email asking if anyone has anything they’d like to donate. I told her I had a bunch of stuff. And then last night I had an idea of how to get some old stuff out of the kids rooms. I explained to them about the fundraiser and told them it would be so awesome if they each went into their bedrooms and found at least 2 old things they don’t play with anymore that they could donate. And wouldn’t you know they each came out with at least 3 things or more. As soon as the words came out of my mouth they were all running into their rooms to find stuff. That made me so proud.
My kids helping others…
Nice and relaxed…
is how I’m feeling and how our weekend has been.
Friday was a success as a team fundraiser and as my “kick off” party. I’m not sure how much I have personally made from it being that I’m now a Cookie Lee Consultant, but so far the team has $150. So that’s cool. There were about 15 kids here at one point having a blast playing outside, or Wii or PlayStation. I had a blast hanging out with my soccer buds. Three different families stayed until about 12:30 or so. I have to comment though on how UNclassy my neighbors are. I had one come (who lives with our neighbor next door just as a roommate) with her girlfriend and they maybe glanced at the jewelry as they walked by the table into the kitchen. They then proceeded for the rest of the night to come in, get beer and food and take both back to their house. This happened at least 3 times. NICE! So we’re good enough to come and get beer and food from but not good enough to hang with. I have no problem that they didn’t buy anything. But what they did was rude. I had another neighbor come and buy stuff and hang for a little. But then she left to hang with the two girls and started doing the same thing – only sending her husband in to get her drinks. Not to mention the fact they have a 3 year old daughter who is sadly allowed to roam the neighborhood by herself! She was constantly in and out of my front door even though her parents were no longer here. Sean must have brought her over to them at least twice. They could care less. Then, around 11:30 they come in asking if we know where she is. WOW!!! There are some people out there that just should not have kids! When this poor little girl gets abducted one day they’ll sit there and shrug their shoulders wondering how it happened. At least though I now know who NOT to invite anymore and who we are no longer hanging out with. (And whose kid which is here every other weekend I will no longer be “watching” or having hang here because part time daddy doesn’t feel like dealing with him.)
Yesterday was one of the most relaxing days we’ve had in a long time. I stayed in my PJ’s allllll day and loved it. It was so nice to have a weekend where my alarm wasn’t going off at 5 or 6am for us to be at the fields. I can’t remember the last weekend we’ve had open. Funny though – guess what was on TV all day – soccer! We even watched USA play El Salvador last night in the World Cup Qualifiers. I have to say I was not impressed with the way El Salvador played at all. If I had wanted to watch bad acting I would have watched a Keanu Reeves movie. I wanted to watch soccer and at least the US team gave me that. ES was leading the game 2-0 and in the last 10 minutes of the game we came back to tie it. And in the last 20 minutes of the game, the ES players would fall and pretend to be hurt so they could waste time (they’d do this even when the ball was no where near them). SAD!!!!!!! GO USA!!!!
Right now it’s 1:25 and I’m still in my PJ’s. Sean and the kids played Wii all morning while I watched. I have a few phone calls to make, but other then that it’s another PJ/do nothing day!!!!!
