It was and it wasn’t. It was Tristan’s last Futsal game of the season which meant it was his last time playing with those kids on that team (and some of those kids he’s played with for the past 3 years). We’re definitely NOT going to miss the coach (who is not head coach this year – HA!). And I know we’ll remain friends with the parents we’ve become close too (I’m even starting a new business venture with the one mom – SO excited – has to do with me doing Cookie Lee and her selling Thirty-One Gifts – I’ll get into that later though). It was just a sad morning. Not to mention the fact that one of the new kids that made the team was also there (we played against him) and everyone knew his parents (except me of course) and I kind of felt like the “odd man out” if that makes sense. And no one made me feel that way – that was all my own doing.
The team ended up losing 10 (or 11) to 2, only 1 goal of which was Tristan’s fault so it didn’t even really matter. But I wanted him leaving on a high note. He seemed kind of down after the game and I wasn’t sure if it was from losing or the fact that he realized this was his last game with them. Either way I didn’t bring it up and he didn’t say anything. (I didn’t want to put any ideas in his head making him feel worse.)
After his game Sean and Caelie headed to Busch Gardens for a few hours. Sean is going to miss her birthday in August for work and we had promised her when she turned 9 she could go on one big roller coaster there – Gwazi (that was Tristan’s first roller coaster so we have to follow suit with Caelie - she remembers EVERYTHING!!!!) I was worried she wouldn’t like it – she gets motion sickness in the car sometimes. But she called me right after and I could just see her beaming through the phone. She loved it!
Meanwhile Tristan and I just vegged all day because he wasn’t feeling too well. Sean and Caelie came home, we vegged some more, had dinner and then went out for some frozen custard which reminded me of the boardwalk back in Ocean City, NJ. And now that we know about this place that seels it, you can be sure we’ll be going back!

We got up, not too early this morning and went to Tristan’s Futsal game. Where I got to watch some great soccer and talk to some friends. I talked to one mom from Tristan’s team whose son also does not want to play for our coach – and she feels the same way I do. We’re not sure what the other family is going to do though because they were away this weekend. I guess we’ll see Tuesday night.
We came home and the kids played outside with their neighbor while I got alot done inside. Once it started raining though they all came inside with their friend and watched Mall Cop. I got to see bits and pieces of it – funny movie!
Sean had to work today but he got home fairly early – about 2pm. I’m making a dinner tonight that Kieran picked. It looks yummy. If it is I’ll post the recipes tomorrow.

TGIF!!!!!!
I’m psyched for this 3 day weekend because we have NO plans whatsoever except for Tristan’s Futsal game tomorrow morning. The rest of the weekend we can do whatever we want, whenever we want. And we won’t have a weekend like this until sometime mid-July.

it’s not! Caelie’s soccer season came to an end a few weekends ago when they played in their last tournament. Tristan’s soccer season is actually still going on and there will be no end in sight for this 2008-2009 season because they’re playing in a Futsal league (indoor soccer) which doesn’t end until June 13th. Looks like we’ll just go right back into the new season since that starts June 1st! I have a soccer committee meeting to go to tonight about tryouts next week and then next week, starting Tuesday, both Sean and I plus the kids will be back living up there for the entire week. That means Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and the following Monday. The boys have tryouts Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday (with an added goalie tryout for Tristan on Wednesday) and Caelie has tryouts Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. And they HAVE to go to all 3 days. Sean will be up there helping evaluate players while I’ll be helping out with uniforms and registering kids. We’ll be back up there the following Monday to help with the older kids. We’ve heard some kids will most likely be dropped that first night for both boys and girls – that will be interesting.
We still don’t know who is coaching any of the 3 teams. Sean is dead set against Tristan playing for the same coaches we had this past season. Tristan has even said he won’t play for them again either. There’s actually at least 2 other kids from his team who have voiced the same thing. It’s sad if you think about it. Like someone said – these kids should not be walking away from games and practices with huge knots in their stomachs. While it is competitive soccer – they still should be out there enjoying themselves. Another mom and I have discussed that if it is the same coaches, we’ll let the boys play rec soccer and put them in Project 40 over at USF for the year instead. Not 100% sure on that just yet – but honestly, I’m not paying over $800 just for Tristan to play competitive soccer and have a shitty season like we had this past year.

today has been fun so far and the day isn’t over yet.
LOVED watching Tristan and his team play Futsal this morning. They lost 7-6 but it was so fun to watch! And for it being Tristan’s first ever indoor soccer game (there are some different rules for goalies for indoor soccer then there are for outdoor) – he played briliantly! Can’t wait for next weeks game and I *think* we’ll be signing Caelie up for this this summer instead of a soccer camp.
Caelie’s end of season soccer party started today at 1 and we just got home around 5. And it was surprisingly a good time. The kids had a blast playing a game of soccer against the adults (and it is HOT out there), then the girls got their medals and the coaches got their gifts. Then they did a scavenger hunt, then off to the movie room to see a 4 minute movie one of the team managers made of pics from this season (CUTE) and then everyone jumped in the pool! Sean (head coach) and Mark (assistant coach) both got a GC to Sam’s Club, a soccer ball that each girl signed and a very cute notebook of sorts with a page of each player and a few sentences the girls wrote. One of my fave lines was from one of the girls. The question was “What is one memory you have of coach?” And her answer was “when he put his hand on his head, shook it and said ‘NO’!” (That happened alot this season – LOL).
We’re now off to another party! I’m exhausted!

I’m not so sure about that.
Tonight Sean and the younger two are up at the fields for their Junior Flames soccer training.
Tomorrow is the day I’m not so sure about. And not the whole day but some of it. We’ll start out by all going to Tristan’s 1st Futsal game (indoor soccer) with his team. That I’m looking forward to. It’s the after that game that I’m not looking forward to and that would be Caelie’s end of soccer season party. The parents from her team are a tad (alot) bit annoying and I just want to get there, make our appearance and leave. There area few parents that we like and are hoping to get together with after the season finally ends. But those are very few in numbers. I’m just SO happy Sean will not be coaching next year so I can enjoy her soccer games more. Some parents are just TOO much!
Tomorrow night we might be going to a friends house for a BBQ. Not so sure just yet. But I hope so. These are people whose son was on Tristan’s soccer team last year, moved away for a year and then just recently came back. And the two times that I’ve seen the mom since they’ve moved back we’ve had such a blast that I really hope things pan out for tomorrow night. They are good people!
Sunday Sean and I are hoping to start cleaning out the garage so that one of these weekends we can actually organize it and possibly sell a few things on Ebay/Craig’s List. Then Sunday night is the last session of the Junior Flames for Caelie, Kieran and Sean.
TGIF!!! After some crap that’s gone on this past week I’m in NEED of a BEER! (But there’s none in the house)

We weren’t even out of South Carolina on Saturday when Sean’s cell phone started ringing off the hook about soccer and Caelie’s team! SERIOUSLY???? They had a tournament this weekend that we of course weren’t involved in – yet the soccer drama is never ending! Apparently, some loon mom from Caelie’s team got all up in our assistant coaches face cursing and screaming and all of this IN FRONT OF THE TEAM!!! CLASSY!!!! She happily got called out though by him and the rest of the team. She’s one of those who put words in other peoples mouths and tells you that others are saying the same things, when they’re not. And I am SO happy she got called out on that in front of every parent on the team. She is a whack job and was told not to come back for their last game on Sunday!
Then, this morning I start getting phone calls and emails about Tristan’s team. This season is going on way too long. His team has just started playing Futsal (indoor soccer) and the season lasts 6 more weeks. I just checked our calendar and we are booked solid every weekend for the month of May! Between another soccer tournament Caelie’s team is in, two end of soccer season parties, Futsal games every Saturday morning and a few other parties thrown in here and there – we’re booked! I guess last week was our chance to breathe and be away from soccer for a while before it all starts up again (not to mention try outs are the end of May too).
