My 1st week of participating in the “Thirty Initiative” didn’t go off like I had wanted it to. Out of 7 days, I only worked out for 30 minutes during 5 of them. Which, now that I put that down on paper, isn’t too bad considering I just started working out again. Some of it was on the treadmill while the rest was just taking walks.
This week though out of 6 days I’ve only done 3. Being at my parents last week in Jacksonville was tough finding the time to work out and same goes for this past weekend.
This morning I tried something new. I just worked out to Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred
and that woman is certifiably nuts! I am wrecked! Completely!!!!!! BUT, if I can keep this up, I bet in 30 days I notice a difference. I’m not so sure I’m going to start out doing this daily just yet. Maybe every other day. But I do plan on keeping with it. I’m gong to interchange between this DVD, my Yourself! Fitness
Playstation DVD, my treadmill and my The Firm: Firm Parts – 5 Day Abs & Tough Tape 2. Those should get me going and ready to start the Couch to 5K in May. (I hope!!!!)
and 28 more to go (at least for this challenge – like I said yesterday, I’m hoping to make this into a habit!).
I walked on the treadmill yet again today for 30 minutes and walked 1.65 miles this time. And for some reason the 30 minutes went by alot faster today then they did yesterday. Not sure if it’s because I tried working off something that’s been seriously bothering me since I was told about it a few nights ago or if it was also because I was listening to my iPod more intently trying to come up with good workout songs for a friend. Whatever the reason, the 30 minutes seemed to fly by!
and hopefully longer.
I signed up a few days ago for a challenge on AndreaAnna’s blog: her Thirty Initiative.
(And Kim, I’m just copying the rest from your blog – I just walked 1.68 miles in 30 minutes and am tired and now lazy – LOL).

So, I’m starting an initiative: April is a 30-day month. This program requires 30 minutes each day of training. I’m here and now pledging that in the month of April, I will exercise AT LEAST 30 minutes EVERY day.
30 minutes a day for 30 days.
AndreAnna is doing this to raise money for Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K which she will be RUNNING in October! She is doing the 30 for 30 to get training for the run.

Here’s where you come in: For those of you who pledge to do this with me, I
will keep a running log and tally of your weekly exercise after you post it
here. For every five hours you log, I will donate $1 of my own money towards my
race. Think of how quickly that can add up!
Thirty minutes is quick – it can be the Shred DVD, a brisk walk with your
dog or family, doing the elliptical in your basement, cleaning out your garage,
raking – I don’t care how you do it. I just want you to do it with me. And if
you would like to start the C25K program with me, that would be awesome too. I
am starting on April 1 as I am travelling for work the last week in March.
I’m so excited about this! The past few months I’ve been trying to do less complaining about things and more actually doing or fixing things that I’d normally complain about (if that makes sense). Hence, my newly painted kitchen! And now I’m going to work on my body. I’m actually at the perfect weight – I’m right where I’m supposed to be so I don’t necessarily need to lose weight. I DO need to tone up though and build some muscle. So that’s what I’m aiming to do.
And I started today with a walk for 30 minutes on my treadmill (which hasn’t been used in over a year) and I walked a total of 1.68 miles in those 30 minutes. Good way to start I think.
So spread the word! Do your 30 for 30 and help to raise money for Susan G Komen while helping yourself!
