Today marks the beginning of the kids 3rd week of summer. And we’ve been on the go the past 2 weeks. So every once in a while it’s nice to have a day to stay home and do absolutely nothing (Ok, so I didn’t do “nothing” but you get the idea).
The two kids and I had a lazy morning. Around noon or so we decided to hit the library and stock up on some good summer reading materials. Tristan has his own library card (to which he’s very proud of) and took out 5 books (3 of which are on the summer reading list). Caelie took out 3 (2 of which are on her summer reading list from school) and I got 3 out for Kieran for when he returns next week (I couldn’t follow his summer reading list – he’s going into 2nd grade in August but is reading big chapter books already – so proud of my little man). We got home, had lunch and the kids read from about 1-5 – I’m dead serious! Both of them finished a book they had just gotten out. (Of course, in between reading Caelie played with her Littlest Pet Shop stuff). But I had told them that morning it was a non-electronic day – no Nintendo DS’s, no computers, no Wii or Playstation, no TV!
It turned out to be a nice, low-key day!
