A nice, relaxing day!

Today marks the beginning of the kids 3rd week of summer. And we’ve been on the go the past 2 weeks. So every once in a while it’s nice to have a day to stay home and do absolutely nothing (Ok, so I didn’t do “nothing” but you get the idea).

The two kids and I had a lazy morning. Around noon or so we decided to hit the library and stock up on some good summer reading materials. Tristan has his own library card (to which he’s very proud of) and took out 5 books (3 of which are on the summer reading list). Caelie took out 3 (2 of which are on her summer reading list from school) and I got 3 out for Kieran for when he returns next week (I couldn’t follow his summer reading list – he’s going into 2nd grade in August but is reading big chapter books already – so proud of my little man). We got home, had lunch and the kids read from about 1-5 – I’m dead serious! Both of them finished a book they had just gotten out. (Of course, in between reading Caelie played with her Littlest Pet Shop stuff). But I had told them that morning it was a non-electronic day – no Nintendo DS’s, no computers, no Wii or Playstation, no TV!

It turned out to be a nice, low-key day!

Happy New Years Eve!!!

In an hour or so the kids, my mom and I are heading off to Orlando to go and visit my long time friend Kristin and her girls who are visiting Mickey Mouse from New Jersey. I am SO excited and cannot wait to see them. Kristin and I have literally known each other since she was born (which was 3 months after me) and have been best friends ever since. She is Tristan’s Godmother as well. The one thing I am extremely sad about is her youngest, Andrea, doesn’t know who we are. We still lived in New Jersey when her oldest, Giana, was born so she knows us all very well. But Andrea is only two and doesn’t know us. I’ve only met her twice and very briefly at that so I can’t wait to meet her and see how she is at two years old. We plan on hanging out at her hotel (All Star Sports Resort) and eating lunch there and letting the kids swim in one of the many pools. I can’t wait to get out there.

After that we’re off to my brothers for the night for some fun. I have a Wii Tournament scheduled, got Martini mixtures yesterday and it’s just going to be a night of FUN!

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Years Eve!
